This brocca explores the relationship between solitude and togetherness, between self and other, and between the various and at times conflicting parts of ourselves. The sculpture is adorned with fluid squiggles and cascading drops, yet this movement is interrupted by the presence of structure. The rounded handle meets a strong cylindrical body. Spontaneity meets geometry, softness meets harshness, flow meets its boundary, flexibility meets routine—two seemingly opposing energies converse, and yearn to work together to create something beautiful. A visual and sculptural dialogue centred around collaboration and harmony, within ourselves and our lives.
This piece was made in tandem with another. The two objects belong together in spirit, but exist individually in form. Choosing to offer them as individual objects is a continuation of my exploration of togetherness and separation.
Together, the contrast within the pieces is emphasised by their difference in colour. A vibrant, powerful red complements a watery and emotional blue.
